Gene Dempsey “Dempsey” Muery was born on September 29, 1927 in Bellville, Texas to George Washington Muery and Agnes Louise Wammel Muery. On December 22, 1964 , he married Ruby Bell in Bellville, Texas. Dempsey Muery worked for San Bernard Electric Coop, Bellville Texas and retired in December 11, 1982 after 35 years of service.
He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellville, Texas and was part of the organization of the Lutheran Brotherhood holding several offices over the years. Dempsey was a retired member of the Bellville volunteer fire department. Dempsey enjoyed gardening, playing dominoes, listening to polka music every Saturday morning and was an avid hunter. His grand children remember spending summers with Demspey in Bellville and taking trips to Sandy . He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
Gene Dempsey Muery passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010 in Cleveland Texas at the age of 82 years.
He is survived by: his children Jennifer Lynn Crabtree of Cleveland, Warren and Donna Brown of Katy; his grandchildren, Shanna Brown and Sam Teuton of Katy, Warren R Brown of Katy, William and Catherine Brown of Round Rock and great grandson Carter Samuel Teuton of Katy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Muery and Agnes Louise Wammel Muery; by his wife Ruby Bell Muery; and son in-law Scott Crabtree.
Visitation will be held on July 11, 2010 at Knesek funeral home in Bellville where the family will receive friends from 3 pm to 6 pm. Funeral services will be held July 12, 2010 at 3 pm at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Bellville with Rev. Jennie Jones officiating. Interment in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville, Texas.
